OPI Steady As She Rose with blingy 3D art

I was planning on doing holo nails today since its super hot and sunny. But at the last minute I changed my mind and went with 3D nail art. It always takes awhile for me and this was my second time using arcylic to make 3D art. I used a mold the last time and it had worked great but for some reason todays mold didnt bring me pretty art - I wanted to make bows. After a few tries, i ripped what i had already done off and started over without the mold. Freehanding my bows was a lot easier and faster.

I started with two coats of OPI Steady As She Rose. Followed by a coat of Seche Vite. Then using pink acrylic powder and liquid, I made bows on each nail. When I was done, I added a pink rhinestone to the middle of each bow and sealed with another coat of Seche Vite. Then because I love blingy nails..the blingier the better.. I added extra rhinestones to my ring finger. I used clear, yellow and gold stones for that and once again sealed with SV. Yes that's lots of top coat but hopefully no stones will fall off.

Has anyone tried acrylic art? How do you like it?

  1. I have never tried acrylic nail art, it takes me long enough to take off my old mani, prep my nails, re-polish and let dry. Haha. Kudo's to you for doing a fabulous job! Bows and glitter are my indulgences. ;)

  2. I use to do my owl acrylic nails plus nail art but it ruined my real nails so I stopped :/ Now I just make acrylic nail art and use it on my natural nail.

  4. @ A Polished Touch: thank you! I think 3D art are worth the time in the end. They are so fun to look at

@ nicelyvarnished: I don't like acrylic nails but I love using acrylics for nail art too. Its not damaging and are pretty.

@ Toyomi: thanks!! They aren't hard to do once you get the hang of it. I don't have a tripod so I can't film myself from above my hands but I looked up 3D acrylic nail art on YouTube before I first started doing them and there are great tutorials up there. Its mostly dipping your brush into liquid n dip lightly into your powder to create a small ball on your brush. Then when you place it on your nail, you can then sculpt from that ball while adding more to create the design you want.

  5. What a pretty mani. :)

No acrylic nail art for me! If I even tried, I would end up encasing my fingers, my cat, my dog, my dressing table all in acrylic. Probably not a good thing. I am not what you would call artistic. lol
